Capital Access - AAFCA
Every candidate who reaches this stage has already completed training or
apprenticeship with a partner institution. What most of them lack isn't ability, it's a verified, assessed, investment-ready case that capital providers can act on.
Advance Africa builds that case. Today, that means grant capital, pooled from donors and disbursed to vetted candidates. Over time, it means connecting a proven pipeline of investment-ready entrepreneurs to the banks, funds and institutions that could finance their growth.
Where We Are Now, and Where We're Headed
We're deliberate about not overstating what's active today. This is a two-stage model, and we're honest about which stage we're in.
Grants, Pooled & Assessed
Donors and institutions give to Advance Africa, not to individual candidates. We pool those funds and retain full discretion over disbursement — which is what lets a gift be tax-deductible. Grants go to candidates who pass our 8–12 week assessment framework. No repayment is expected.
Investment-Ready Introductions
As we build a track record of assessed, financeable candidates, we intend to connect the strongest of them to institutional capital — commercial banks, development finance institutions, impact investors, and government enterprise funds.
Training happens first, and always through a partner institution. Advance Africa's work starts once a candidate arrives at the Bridge, already trained

What "Investment-Ready" Actually Means
A candidate who clears our 8–12 week assessment framework isn't just "trained." They leave with a documented case a capital provider — donor or institution — can actually evaluate.
Each reflects a different role in getting a skilled candidate from "trained" to "investable" and eventually, to employer.
Capital Partner
Banks, DFIs, and impact investors interested in a future pipeline of assessed, investment-ready entrepreneurs.
Catalytic Partner
Donors and foundations funding the grants, assessment, and verification that make a candidate investable in the first place.
Market Partner
Businesses opening procurement, distribution, or subcontracting opportunities to graduates once they've launched.
Entrepreneur
Candidates who've completed training or apprenticeship with a partner and are ready for assessment and grant funding.
We don't lead with people trained — that's our partners' work, not ours. We track what happens after a candidate becomes investment-ready.
